  1. Barrel fixed the RPR accuracy issues 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Sep 2018

I have now had two range sessions after installing this barrel. I was experiencing flyers before, and that has been completely eliminated. This is exactly what I was hoping for. A "bad" 50 yard 5 shot group with SK Standard + is still under a half inch. Average is about 0.3" and still getting better after the first 200 rounds.
Be advised to not put a lot of pressure/torque on the rifle with your face or grip. It will flex. Hold it tenderly and get the most out of this awesome barrel upgrade!
Great job on the barrel guys. You should sell a ton of these.

  2. Typical oustanding quality and value for Green Mountain 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Sep 2018

I, as well as 2 of my shooting buddies, have had serviceable but not outstanding accuracy from our RPRs. We all find them to be muzzle heavy, resulting in poor balance, (especially offhand) and to produce 10-shot 50 yard groups that could usually be covered by a quarter with one or two select ammunitions. I knew that wasn't good enough to make my rifle "a keeper". I also knew that I needed a better balanced rifle as well. Fortunately Green Mountain is meeting a need in the market for affordable and significantly more accurate RPR barrels, and I ordered one the moment they became available. This 16" barrel is 32.3 ounces, making it a full 9 ounces lighter than the factory barrel. That kind of weight reduction from the muzzle end of the rifle enhanced the balance in a way that can't possibly be overstated. After carefully breaking the barrel in, my 50 yard 10-shot groups are almost always entirely coverable with a dime with several types of ammo (including budget-friendly Aguila Super Extra SV). This rifle is not one I use for matches, but the accuracy is there for almost any undertaking. My rifle is 7.6 lbs topped with a 0.5" riser and a Sightron SII 6-24x42 optic, making it the handy and versatile rifle that I initally hoped the RPR would be. Great job Green Mountain!
