  1. Good stuff! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Mar 2020

I’ve purchased several Green Mountain blanks and these are an exceptional value. All have been good shooters. I use them for making custom AR barrels. Internal dimensions has been very good and I feel there is no disadvantage in using then. Internal surface finishes have been on par with any Shilen or Douglas Chromoly barrel that I’ve used. Keep up the good Green Mountain.
As far as OD to Bore concentricy goes, these are unturned blanks and not pre-turned on centers. If you don’t have the ability to turn these on center to true them up with the bore line you should look at getting a “turned on centers” blank offered by GM for a little more money. These are meant for that operation to be done by the gunsmith hence the low price and great value. I put these on centers and turn the od to true the OD to the boreline. Then they can be treated like a normal blank.

  2. impressive accuracy 5 Star Review

after turning this barrel down for a AR wildcat i have been impressed with the accuracy potential. It has consistently put groups in cloverleafs to 1/2" at 100. This is with carefully prepped brass but still impressive for a $60 barrel. It was just to prove a theory but now it will stay on a upper for a great shooting gun.

  3. RemAge 3 Star Review

Picked up one of these for a RemAge style build. Bore was .030" off from OD on one end. Luckily other end was within .006" so used that for the breech end. Had to turn muzzle down substantially in order to not have to "clock" the barrel. Otherwise everything was fine, just took much more work than expected as compared to the other blanks I've bought from GM.
