  1. Great barrel for the money 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Apr 2020

This is the 5th barrel I've bought from Green Mountain. It was for a 22-250 Ackley Improved. I contoured it, fluted it, cut the chamber, threaded the barrel for a brake, and it shot sub .5MOA easily. You gotta like that. I wish they had the raw gunsmith version in a 27" 1:7 twist steel version for the $50-$60 price range. That would be an even better deal.

  2. Great barrel for the money 5 Star Review

I bought this barrel for a 22-250 Ackley Improved I am building. I contour and flute these barrels for rifles I build. I used this same barrel on a previous 22-250 Ackley Improved build and it shoots great. Green Mountain is the only place I am aware of where I can get a 26" finish length 1:7 twist 22 cal blank. I've done this same thing with their .30 cal blanks and am happy with these barrels.

  3. Very good barrel for the money. 5 Star Review

This is the 4th barrel I've gotten from GM. All seem very good and GM is great to deal with. I have this blank turned down and contoured and am starting to cut the chamber. I will make a 22-250 Ackley-Improved out out this barrel. It will be 26" long and become a long range predator rifle.

  4. 1:7 27" .223 Blank 5 Star Review

Extremely easy to create a load for this Barrel. Gunsmith did say, the first 1\2 and last 1\2 " due to how the initial machining of the rifling should be cut off to increase efficiency. He inspected and saw some minor flaws in the rifling. I'm still at a 26" Barrel for my 1000 yard comp rifle. I'd buy another one tomorrow.
